ERIDAN'S CHART OF LOVE AND DESPERATION

Some notes about this particular CR chart:

• There are four classifications of relationships, as per troll romance. I'm going to give the most generic rundown in the history of quadrant recaps so that non-Homestuck fans can understand it. (At least as I understand it. I make no claims that I've got this down to an art.)
  
  
  
  • RED ROMANCE; wwe're talkin serious flushed vvibes here
    
    
    
    • - The heart indicates matespritship; it's the closest trolls come to human romance, though it's based out of pity instead of the respect we usually hope for in a romantic partner. It's also one of the concupiscent relationships, which means that it's sexually charged.
    
    
    • - The diamond indicates moirallegiance; this is best described as aromantic life partners. Your moirail is someone you're compelled to look out for and take care of, and vice-versa. You make sure they don't go crazy and, say, kill all of their friends, or something like that. It's often considered something like being soulmates, at least in the fandom. It's aromantic, because while it is a romance, it does not, generally, involve sexual desire or sexual acts.

  • - The spade indicates kismesissitude; this is the black opposite of matespritship. It's a rivalry that goes so far as to make you truly and utterly hate someone; you want to beat the crap out of them, fight with them, and have really wild hatesex with them. It's a passionate hate that makes two kismesises think of nothing but destroying the other when they're together. Of course, killing is discouraged - if you killed them, then the relationship would be over.
    
  • - The club indicates auspistice; this one's a little trickier because it involves three people. An auspitice happens like this: two people are starting to slide into kismesissitude, but then a third party intervenes and acts as a mediator between the two, preventing caliginous feelings from boiling over into a full blown kismesissitude. In troll culture, hate is an easy emotion to build up against someone, and without an auspistice, there'd be major black infidelity, and we can't have that.
    
  
  
  
  
• Eridan is kind of a weirdo when it comes to quadrants; he's seriously desperate and so oftentimes, he'll have several potential romances for the same quadrant going at the same time. He tends to aim for more concupiscent relationships than conciliatory ones, but he'll take what he can get.
  
• That's not to say that Eridan is only looking for quadrants. He's a very sad kind of kid; he wants people to want him around, to like him and to generally not want to cut him in half with a chainsaw. So, while each person on this CR chart will have a suit attached to them, that doesn't necessarily mean he's expecting to try and fill his quadrant with them.
  
• Black and Red (Spades and Hearts) sometimes have a tendency to flip, or sometimes a troll is unsure of whether or not they're feeling hate or pity for the other person, so some characters will have both of those at once.
  
• Really, the only reason quadrants are included is to show the way his feelings are leaning, if he had to choose.
